Biography

Patricia Urteaga-Crovetto is a researcher and Associate professor at the Academic Department of Law of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. Dr Urteaga-Crovetto’s research interests center on legal and political issues affecting natural resources and indigenous peoples in the Amazon and Andean region. In addition to her work with regional and national indigenous organizations in Peru, she has also worked as a researcher at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development, and has been Guest Researcher both in the Ibero American Institute at the University in Gothenburg, Sweden; and at the Max Planck Institute in Halle, Germany. She is also a member of the Ethic Committee of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, and member of the Executive Board of the International Commission on Legal Pluralism. Biography

She is a lawyer and a Master’s student in Environmental Development at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. She is the coordinator of Legal research and Capacity Building Center (CICAJ) of the Academic Department of Law. She is also teaching assistant of the course of Anthropology and Law at the same university. She has been awarded the 2016 Research Grant for the best undergraduate law thesis entitled: “La dimension interlegal de la Gestión del Agua en San Andrés de Tupicocha (1942-2015)”. Currently, she is participating as a researcher in the project: The human right to water in the context of socio-environmental conflicts in Loreto, Peru (CICAJ-PUCP and the University of Antwerpen, Belgium).

Roxana Vergara Rodríguez - Associate Investigator

 

Biography

She is a lawyer and a Master’s student in Anthropology at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP). She is also the coordinator of the Master Program on Legal Research. Her research interests are multiculturalism, gender and interlegality, social conflicts and violence against women. She has worked in the Commission of Truth and National Reconciliation on human rights violations and in NGOs to strengthen indigenous organizations in rural areas.  Since 2016, she is part of the research team in the project: The human right to water in the context of socio-environmental conflicts in Loreto, Peru (CICAJ-PUCP and the University of Antwerpen, Belgium).

Biography

She is an undergraduate Law student at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. She is also a researcher at the Grupo de Investigación en Derecho, Género y Sexualidad — DEGESE. Her research interests focus on indigenous rights, gender, violence and crime from an intersectionality approach and anthropological perspective.  Lately, she participates as a researcher in the project: The human right to water in the context of socio-environmental conflicts in Loreto, Peru (CICAJ-PUCP and the University of Antwerpen, Belgium).
